Where does this route take us?

The term "badén" refers to a channel or ditch created by the passage of rainwater . This route takes us to the Badén ravine, located north of the Viguera tunnel, in Camero Nuevo, within the Tierra de los Cameros, in La Rioja.

The route is impressive, as it crosses a narrow ravine that flows into the Iregua River , ascends to the peaks of the surrounding mountain range, enters an oak forest and offers panoramic views of great beauty, until reaching a hermitage located between the rocks.

What is the route of the Barranco del Badén?

The starting point is accessed by the viaduct that crosses the road next to the mouth, in the direction of Soria.

The route begins on the road, before the turnoff to Viguera . We start by climbing a path between olive trees, and after 1.4 km, we reach the imposing walls of the ravine.

The trail continues for 800 meters along the bed of the ravine until reaching a crossroads, where we take the direction to the right .

After another 300 metres , we leave the ravine and continue climbing for 600 metres until we reach Peña Moya , the highest point of the route. A little further on, we find Cerro de los Cantos , the second most notable elevation of the route, where it is advisable to rest before beginning the descent.

We descend along a clearly visible path for approximately 1.5 km, until we reach a fork, where we take the path on the left . This section takes us through fields of olive and almond trees .

We continue downhill for 1 km until we reach Islallana ; some parts of the descent are steep, so caution is recommended. After traveling another 600 meters, we reach a new crossroads, where we take the path.

This section of the trail takes us to a series of natural viewpoints that offer panoramic views of the valley and the surrounding rock formations. As we continue, the trail becomes gentler, taking hikers through picturesque scenery until we reach our final destination.
