“This land has always given me the best”

Our winery in La Rioja

When Miguel Ángel Rodríguez began to excavate the winery in the depths of Albelda de Iregua in 1992, he was beginning to take shape as an exciting project.

The wines of the 200 Monges family are the benchmark of our winery. Long-aged wines that convey the essence of the land and the landscape.

Unique wines that use time as their best ally to grow in complexity and maturity until they express the true story of their origin.

“Caves continue to fascinate human beings”

The choice of this clay soil for the construction of the contemporary cave dwelling that is today the heart of Bodegas Vinícola Real, continues the tradition of those hermits who more than a thousand years ago excavated in these rocks a set of caves for worship that were the humble origin of a great medieval cultural centre: the disappeared monastery of San Martín de Albelda.

“200 Monks is spelled with a G in honor of Vigila...”

…Sarracino, Garsea, Salvo, … to each of the 200 monks who lived in the now-disappeared Monastery of San Martín de Albelda in the 10th century and who dedicated their lives to safeguarding culture.
